Mythical Beast Bashilisk

Mythical Beast Bashilisk was released in early 2018 as part of the Extreme Force booster set for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. This set was notable for introducing the Mythical Beast archetype, a series of Pendulum monsters centered around the strategic use of Spell Counters to activate powerful effects. The set emerged during the VRAINS era, a period when the game mechanics were shifting to incorporate Link Summoning, forcing players to rethink how they utilized their Pendulum scales and field presence.

The card was designed within the Konami art department, continuing the high-fantasy aesthetic consistent with the Mythical Beast line. These designs typically feature intricate, crystalline, or elemental-inspired creatures meant to evoke a sense of ancient magic. As a rare-tier card, Bashilisk served as a utilitarian piece within the archetype, providing players with necessary board disruption and resource management capabilities, and it was generally regarded by the community as a functional, albeit niche, support card for deck builders focusing on Spell Counter synergy.
