Nordic Beast Gullinbursti

Gullinbursti was introduced in the Battle of Chaos booster set, released in early 2022 as part of the long-running Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. This card represents a strategic expansion of the Nordic archetype, a collection of monsters based on Norse mythology that first debuted years prior. The design team created this card to provide much-needed utility and consistency to Nordic decks, allowing players to bridge the gap between low-level monsters and the powerful Aesir synchro monsters that define the theme.

The artwork features Gullinbursti, the golden boar belonging to the god Freyr in Germanic mythology. In the context of the game, the card's illustration reflects the series' signature aesthetic, blending high-fantasy character design with a dynamic, stylized visual language. It was received by the player base as a practical support piece, valued specifically for its ability to special summon itself and facilitate the summoning of higher-level monsters, grounding it as a functional staple within its specific niche.
