Where it came from
Number C40: Gimmick Puppet of Dark Strings first appeared in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime, utilized by the antagonist Quattro as an evolved form of his signature Gimmick Puppet archetype. The design reflects the series' dark, gothic aesthetic, centering on themes of marionettes and mechanical horror. This specific printing was released in Legendary Duelists: Season 3, a compilation set designed to reprint fan-favorite cards from various spin-off eras while providing modern players access to legacy archetypes.
The card features artwork consistent with the macabre style established by the Gimmick Puppet series, emphasizing jagged edges and a sinister, puppeteer-inspired silhouette. As an Ultra Rare print within the LDS3 set, it serves both as a functional tool for collectors aiming to complete their Extra Deck and as a nostalgic nod to the high-stakes duels of the ZEXAL animated series. It remains a staple for players who enjoy the specific playstyle of rank-up manipulation and field control.
