Onomatopickup

The Onomatopickup spell card was released in the Legendary Duelists: Season 3 set, which debuted in 2022. This collection was designed to compile and reprint cards that support specific archetypes from the Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series, providing players with easier access to cards that were previously scattered across different booster packs. The card itself is part of the 'Onomato' engine, a group of cards originally introduced to support Yuma Tsukumo’s deck from the Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal anime series, specifically designed to facilitate the rapid searching and summoning of Utopia-themed monsters.

The design of the card features artwork centered on the signature 'Onomato' creatures, maintaining the whimsical and vibrant aesthetic established by the Zexal era of the game. Mechanically, it serves as a searcher, allowing players to add specific monsters from their deck to their hand, which is a staple utility in modern card game design intended to increase deck consistency. Upon its release, it was well-received by players focusing on casual or rogue-tier decks as it significantly streamlined the playstyle of the Zexal-inspired archetypes, making the strategy more fluid and competitive within its designated play environment.
