Provenance

Where it came from

Onslaught of the Fire Kings was first released in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Hidden Summoners set in 2018. This spell card is a core component of the Fire King archetype, designed to provide the deck with essential summoning utility by allowing players to Special Summon a Fire King monster from their deck, albeit with the tradeoff of destroying it during the End Phase. This design is quintessential for the Fire King playstyle, which relies on triggering destruction-based effects to maintain board presence.

The artwork and mechanics were developed by Konami as part of their ongoing strategy to introduce specialized support sets that focus on specific monster themes. Within the competitive landscape of the time, the card was received as a functional engine piece that helped streamline the Fire King strategy, allowing for more consistent board setups. As a Super Rare card within the Hidden Summoners expansion, it reflects the game's tiered rarity system designed to balance collectibility with practical deck-building utility.
