Provenance

Where it came from

Overexaggeration was introduced as part of the 25th Anniversary Tin: Dueling Mirrors, a set released in 2024 to celebrate a quarter-century of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game. This set was designed to be a comprehensive retrospective, reprinting some of the most influential cards from recent years while including select newer additions. The card itself functions as a defensive spell, reflecting the ongoing evolution of the game’s mechanics toward more complex interactions between player turns.

The design of the card reflects the modern aesthetic of the game, which favors high-impact, situational effects that punish specific opponent strategies. As a common rarity card within the set, it was intended to be accessible to a wide audience of players looking to bolster their decks with versatile utility options. Its inclusion in the Dueling Mirrors collection highlights Konami's strategy of blending legacy tributes with contemporary competitive playability.
