Pendulum Hole

Pendulum Hole was originally released in the 2016 core set The Dark Illusion before being reprinted in the 2017 Mega-Tin Mega Pack. This counter trap card was designed to interact with the Pendulum summoning mechanic, which dominated the game during the mid-2010s, by allowing players to negate the summon of a Pendulum monster and banish it. Its implementation reflects a period where Konami was actively introducing tech cards specifically tuned to counter the escalating power of Pendulum strategies.

The card features an illustration consistent with the thematic aesthetic of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V era, emphasizing the visual motif of the Pendulum zones. As a common rarity inclusion in the 2017 Mega-Tin, it served as a budget-friendly utility option for competitive players looking to sideboard against Pendulum-heavy decks. While not a centerpiece of the meta, it remains a notable example of the era's defensive design philosophy intended to curb rapid board development.
