Floodgate Trap Hole

Floodgate Trap Hole was originally released in the 2016 core booster set Breakers of Shadow. It was designed as a strategic trap card intended to disrupt opponents by forcing summoned monsters into face-down defense position, permanently hindering their ability to trigger inherent effects or utilize link mechanics efficiently. The card was illustrated with a design emphasizing the mechanical, inescapable nature of the trap, reflecting the competitive philosophy of the era that prioritized board control and tempo management.

The 2017 Mega-Tin Mega Pack reprint of this card, numbered MP17-EN114, provided a wider distribution for a card that had become a staple in high-level competitive play. Presented as an Ultra Rare, this version retained the original tactical function while becoming more accessible to players who utilized it to neutralize powerful pendulum and synchro monsters. Its reception within the community has remained consistently positive, as it stands as one of the most effective non-destruction removal options in the game's history.
