Poeltis de Nouvelles

Poeltis de Nouvelles was released in 2023 as part of the Wild Survivors booster set for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. The card is a central component of the 'Nouvelles' archetype, a unique series of ritual monsters inspired by French fine dining and culinary culture. The archetype was designed to function around a series of recurring card effects that allow players to tribute their own monsters as part of a thematic 'menu' to summon more powerful tiers of chefs.

The visual design of the archetype leans heavily into a whimsical, cartoonish aesthetic that contrasts with the intense, often dark themes found in other card sets of the era. By focusing on the concept of high-end restaurant service, the designers sought to create a technical playstyle that felt like a choreographed service. Upon release, the set was noted by collectors for its niche but cohesive artistic direction, with the Super Rare foil treatment on this card highlighting the intricate, colorful line work typical of the modern era of the game.
