Balameuniere de Nouvelles was released in 2023 as part of the Wild Survivors booster set for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. This set introduced the Nouvelles archetype, a group of DARK Ritual Monsters inspired by classic French haute cuisine and the aesthetic of fine dining service. The design of the cards leans heavily into a whimsical, macabre interpretation of culinary arts, where the monsters act as chefs and ingredients in a complex, recursive game mechanic centered on Tributing monsters to special summon subsequent members of the menu.

The card was designed by the Konami development team to anchor the Nouvelles deck's unique ability to respond to being targeted by effects. By incorporating the French culinary naming convention, the artists aimed to create a distinct thematic atmosphere that contrasts with the traditional fantasy or mechanical tropes often found in the game.
