Power Frame

Power Frame was introduced in the 2013 release Battle Pack 2: War of the Giants, a set designed to mimic the high-stakes drafting environment of a sealed tournament. The set focused on powerful monsters and defensive utility cards that could turn the tide of a duel when played in a limited-format setting. As a common card in this collection, Power Frame was intended to provide players with a straightforward, reactive tool to manage board states without the need for rarer, more complex engine pieces.

The design of Power Frame reflects the aesthetic conventions of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game, emphasizing high-impact mechanical utility through its Trap card classification. By allowing a player to negate an attack and inflict effect damage based on the attacking monster's stats, the card was crafted to serve as a 'punishment' mechanic against aggressive play. While not a staple in high-level competitive decks, its inclusion in the War of the Giants set remains a notable example of the game's shift toward creating accessible, self-contained drafting experiences for casual and competitive players alike.
