Prevent Rat

Prevent Rat was introduced as part of the Metal Raiders expansion, the second major set released for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in 2002. As a common normal monster, it represents the foundational era of the game, characterized by straightforward creature designs that relied on simple attack and defense values rather than complex card effects. The card was designed to populate the lower tiers of competitive play, providing players with a generic Earth-attribute beast-warrior to fill out their early deck lists.

The visual design of the creature features an armored, rodent-like figure, reflecting the aesthetic themes of early Yu-Gi-Oh! card art, which often combined creature tropes with mechanical or military hardware. While it never achieved the iconic status of high-rarity cards from the same set, it remains a distinct relic for collectors of the original printings, serving as a reminder of the game's initial expansion into the Western market during the early 2000s.
