Provenance

Where it came from

Prideful Roar was introduced as part of the Battle Pack 2: War of the Giants set, which Konami released in 2013. This set was specifically engineered for a sealed-play environment, designed to emulate the experience of drafting in other trading card games by providing players with a balanced pool of powerful cards that could function independently of established competitive archetypes.

The card features an effect that allows a player to pay life points to boost a monster's attack, a design intended to create high-stakes decision-making moments during combat. As a common rarity card within this set, it was primarily included to serve as a versatile utility trap, reflecting the broader design philosophy of the era that emphasized interactive, combat-oriented gameplay over the complex combo-based strategies prevalent in the formal competitive meta.
