PSY-Frame Driver

The PSY-Frame Driver card debuted as part of the High-Speed Riders booster set, designed to function as the mandatory companion piece for the PSY-Frame archetype. The archetype was conceived around a unique mechanic where players activate hand-trap effects to summon monsters from the deck, provided they control no other creatures. Driver serves as the necessary target for these special summons, anchoring the engine despite its status as a high-level normal monster that players generally prefer to keep in the deck rather than drawing into their hand.

The Maximum Gold: El Dorado printing, identified as MGED-EN074, marked a departure from the card's standard aesthetic by featuring the distinct, premium aesthetic of the Maximum Gold series. This version retained the card's original mechanical role but introduced a distinct card frame and foil treatment. Like much of the series, this reprint was intended to provide accessible, stylized versions of cards that had become staples in competitive deck building during the mid-to-late 2010s.
