Where it came from
Rebound was released in 2012 as part of the Return of the Duelist booster set, a core expansion in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game that introduced the Prophecy and Madolche archetypes. As a common trap card within the set, its design reflects the game's evolving meta-strategy during the Xyz Summoning era, intended to offer players a situational counter to discard-heavy tactics.
The card's mechanical purpose is to penalize opponents for forcing the user to discard cards, allowing the player to draw instead. Like many trap cards in the franchise, it features distinct fantasy-inspired illustrative work designed to convey a sense of kinetic energy and defensive maneuvering, fitting the standard aesthetic conventions of the series established by Konami's design team.
