Provenance

Where it came from

Runick Freezing Curses first appeared in the Tactical Masters booster set, debuting the Runick archetype within the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. Designed to integrate an unconventional playstyle centered on deck depletion rather than traditional life point reduction, the archetype draws heavy aesthetic and thematic inspiration from Nordic mythology and runic magic. The cards emphasize a fast-paced, control-oriented strategy that challenges opponents by banishing cards from their deck, a mechanic that distinguishes the set as a high-skill pursuit for competitive players.

The 25th Anniversary Tin: Dueling Heroes Mega Pack, which includes this ultra-rare printing (MP23-EN245), was released to celebrate a quarter-century of the card game. By compiling reprints of popular cards from recent sets, the Mega Pack made the Runick engine more accessible to a broader audience. The design for this specific release retains the iconic runic iconography of the original, utilizing the classic card frame that has defined the series since its global expansion.
