Runick Slumber

Runick Slumber is a Quick-Play Spell card first introduced in the Tactical Masters deck build pack, released in 2022. It serves as a cornerstone of the Runick archetype, a control-based strategy defined by the use of high-impact spells that banish the opponent's cards from their deck. The design reflects a thematic focus on Norse mythology and ethereal magic, illustrated with intricate, dreamlike motifs that aim to evoke the feeling of a mystical battlefield rather than a traditional combat encounter.

The 25th Anniversary Tin: Dueling Heroes Mega Pack, which includes the MP23-EN246 printing, was released in 2023 to celebrate a quarter-century of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game. This reprint made the card more accessible to the wider player base during a period when the Runick strategy was highly prominent in competitive circles. Upon its original debut, the card was widely praised for its utility in defensive play, becoming a standard staple for players looking to disrupt opponent tempo while cycling through their own deck resources.
