Sanga of the Thunder

Sanga of the Thunder was originally introduced in the early years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game as a quintessential high-level monster representing the 'Gate Guardian' trio. Designed to mirror the elemental themes of Japanese folklore and mythology, the card features one of the three guardians meant to protect the labyrinth beneath Duelist Kingdom. Its gameplay mechanic, which allows it to reduce an opponent's monster's attack to zero during damage calculation, established it as a defensive powerhouse during the game's formative era.

The version from Legendary Collection 4: Joey's World, numbered LCJW-EN224, serves as a reprint that brings this classic monster into a modern compilation set. By grouping it with iconic cards favored by the character Joey Wheeler, Konami aimed to provide players and collectors with an accessible way to obtain legacy cards that had become staples of nostalgic deck building. The design retains the original aggressive aesthetic, maintaining its status as a piece of franchise history for long-time enthusiasts of the card game.
