Suijin

Suijin first appeared in the early years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, originating from the initial waves of sets inspired by the original manga and anime series. As one of the three guardian monsters associated with the Gate Guardians, it was designed to represent the element of water. The artwork, characterized by its imposing, armored aquatic design, reflects the aesthetic influence of late 1990s Japanese fantasy illustration, aiming to convey a sense of mythical power consistent with the high-stakes duels depicted in the show.

The card was later re-released in the 2013 Legendary Collection 4: Joey's World Mega Pack, which sought to compile cards iconic to the character Joey Wheeler and his peers. This specific printing, numbered LCJW-EN226, was produced as a common-rarity reprint to increase accessibility for players and collectors. While it maintains the classic mechanics that allow the monster to negate an opponent's attack once per duel, its inclusion in this set was primarily intended to provide fans with a nostalgic piece of the franchise's history in a consolidated format.
