Shard of Greed

The Shard of Greed card was introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as a tactical spell card designed to reward patience and long-term planning. Released within the Starter Deck: Yugi Reloaded in 2013, the card functions as a continuous spell that allows the player to draw two cards after waiting through two of their own draw phases. This mechanic was intended to provide a balanced alternative to more explosive, restricted draw power cards, fitting into a deck structured around the iconic strategies of the series protagonist, Yugi Muto.

The card features an illustrative design depicting a crystalline, glowing shard, reflecting the mystical lore central to the franchise. As a common rarity card, it was crafted to be highly accessible to newer players who purchased the Yugi Reloaded deck, which served as a modernized update to the classic playstyles seen in the early days of the game. While it has not seen significant competitive play in top-tier tournament formats, it remains a recognized piece for collectors focused on starter deck history and the evolving art style of the late 5D's and Zexal eras of the card game.
