Shark Fortress

Shark Fortress was released in 2013 as part of the Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy booster set, a series heavily influenced by the Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal anime. The card was designed to support the Shark archetype, reflecting the thematic oceanic motifs favored by the character Reginald Kastle, known in the series as Shark. Its mechanical design focuses on aggressive play, allowing the player to target another monster for an extra attack, which aligns with the high-risk, high-reward nature of the game's Xyz Summoning era.

The card was illustrated with a distinct mechanical, deep-sea aesthetic that emphasizes the heavy, defensive fortification implied by its name. As a common rarity card, it was widely accessible to players during its initial release, serving as a functional utility piece in Xyz-heavy decks. It was generally received as a solid, budget-friendly option for casual and semi-competitive play, though it never reached the level of staples that defined the tournament meta of the period.
