Provenance

Where it came from

Shining Friendship was released in 2002 as part of the Tournament Pack: 1st Season, a promotional set distributed primarily as rewards for official Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game tournaments. These early packs were designed to provide players with accessible, staple-like normal monsters that did not feature complex effects, serving as a foundational element for the game's competitive launch phase.

The card features an illustration by the original Konami TCG art team, depicting a celestial, angelic figure intended to evoke themes of harmony and light. As a common rarity card, it was widely available to players at the time, functioning as a reliable utility monster in early deck-building formats. It remains a recognizable piece of the game's history, representing the straightforward design philosophy that characterized the earliest era of the Trading Card Game.
