Where it came from
Shinobi Necro was originally introduced as a card in the 2018 set Dark Saviors, featuring a design rooted in the archetype of the Mayakashi, a group of undead spirit monsters inspired by Japanese folklore and the theater style of Noh. The artwork, characterized by its ghostly, spectral aesthetic, was intended to evoke the theme of recurring, restless spirits that bridge the gap between the graveyard and the field, a core mechanic for the Mayakashi playstyle.
The 2020 Tin of Lost Memories Mega Pack, which included this reprint of Shinobi Necro as a Super Rare, was released to curate some of the most impactful and sought-after cards from the previous year of Yu-Gi-Oh! releases. By re-releasing the card in this format, Konami provided players with a more accessible version of the monster, which had seen competitive utility due to its ability to special summon itself and facilitate complex synchro climbing sequences.
