Shiranui Sunsaga

Shiranui Sunsaga was released in the Raging Tempest booster set, which debuted in late 2016. The card was designed to serve as the boss monster for the Shiranui archetype, a theme inspired by Japanese folklore and the tradition of the undead samurai. Its introduction into the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game marked a significant power spike for the archetype, providing players with a powerful defensive and recovery option that synergized with the graveyard-based mechanics inherent to the theme.

The card features artwork depicting a spectral, fire-wreathed warrior, consistent with the aesthetic direction of the Shiranui series. As a Synchro Monster, it was engineered to reward players for managing their banished cards, a niche playstyle that distinguished the deck from other contemporaries of the era. Upon its release, it was well-regarded by competitive players for its ability to clear the board and recycle resources, securing its place as a staple within its specific deck structure.
