Shiranui Swordmaster

Shiranui Swordmaster was introduced in the Savage Strike booster set, which debuted in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in early 2019. This set was designed to expand the Shiranui archetype, a theme deeply rooted in Japanese folklore and aesthetic traditions, specifically focusing on the spectral warriors associated with the undead-type monsters. The design of the card reflects the series' commitment to blending traditional samurai imagery with supernatural, ghostly motifs, aiming to provide players with tactical utility through its graveyard interaction mechanics.

The artwork for the Shiranui series, including the Swordmaster, is largely attributed to the conceptual design teams at Konami who sought to modernize classic spirit mythology for the card game's engine. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional, common-rarity utility piece that helped solidify the consistency of Shiranui decks. While it did not reach the status of a format-defining staple, it is regarded by collectors as a foundational element of the set's cohesive visual and thematic narrative.
