Provenance

Where it came from

Solemn Wishes first appeared in the early years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, initially debuting in the Metal Raiders expansion set in 2002. As a continuous trap card, it was designed to provide players with a consistent source of life point recovery, specifically granting 500 life points every time a player draws a card. This mechanic reflected the broader strategy of long-term sustain and resource management often explored in early card design.

The version included in the Speed Duel: Streets of Battle City product, numbered SBC1-ENH17, repackages this classic card for a modern, streamlined format. Speed Duel was developed by Konami to offer a faster, more accessible entry point to the game, utilizing smaller deck sizes and simplified board states. This reprint serves to maintain historical continuity within the game’s library while adapting established mechanics to the specific constraints and tempo of the Streets of Battle City environment.
