Spiral Serpent

Spiral Serpent was included in the 2008 release of the Starter Deck: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, which served as the introductory product for the third major era of the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game. This deck was designed to coincide with the launch of the 5D's animated series, incorporating new mechanical elements such as Synchro Monsters while providing accessible, standard-issue cards for new players to learn the basics of the game.

As a normal monster, the card features flavor text describing the creature's dwelling in deep, dark waters. The design follows the aesthetic established by Konami’s art team for the game's early generation, focusing on high-fantasy creature illustrations that define the classic card pool. Like many common cards from starter decks, it served as filler material to balance the deck's composition, and it is widely recognized by players of that era as a functional, if unremarkable, piece of the 5D's launch lineup.
