Steelswarm Origin

Steelswarm Origin was introduced in the Extreme Force booster set, released in early 2018 as part of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. This card belongs to the Steelswarm archetype, a group of malevolent, insectoid alien entities known for their swarm-based tactics and high-level tribute requirements. As a Link Monster, it represents the evolution of these creatures into the Link Summoning era, providing essential support to the archetype by facilitating special summons from the deck.

The design of the Steelswarm units was originally created by the creative team at Konami to embody a classic sci-fi horror aesthetic, drawing inspiration from hive-mind tropes and alien infestations. Steelswarm Origin specifically serves as a structural anchor for the deck, designed to mitigate the inherent resource costs typically associated with the Steelswarm playstyle. Upon its release, it was regarded by the competitive community as a vital piece of utility, valued primarily for its ability to maintain board presence through its protection and summoning effects.
