Summon Limit

Summon Limit was originally released as part of the Pharaonic Guardian expansion in 2003, designed as a control-oriented continuous trap card meant to disrupt combo-heavy strategies by restricting players to two summons per turn. The card reflects the early philosophy of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, where resource management and board presence were dictated by limiting the pace of special and normal summons to prevent overwhelming field advantages.

The Duelist League 17 version, designated DL17-EN018, was distributed as a participation reward at sanctioned hobby store events. These prints are characterized by their distinct rarity and the specific environment of their release, which sought to encourage local community play by offering staple utility cards with unique visual treatments. The card’s design, featuring a minimalist yet evocative icon of restricted movement, has remained a fixture in competitive sideboards for years due to its enduring effectiveness against modern archetypes.
