Super Hippo Carnival

Super Hippo Carnival was released in August 2016 as part of The Dark Illusion, the 11th core booster set in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. This set was strategically designed to introduce and support various legacy archetypes, including the Performance-themed cards associated with the Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V anime series. The card functions as a quick-play spell designed to facilitate the rapid summoning of Odd-Eyes or Performapal monsters, reflecting the high-energy, entertainment-focused dueling style depicted in the show.

The card features an illustration consistent with the whimsical and theatrical aesthetic of the Performapal archetype. Like many common-rarity cards within the set, its design priority was utility and mechanical support for casual and competitive players looking to fill their field with specific monster types. It was received as a straightforward, functional tool for deck builders who favored the Pendulum-based playstyle dominant during the Arc-V era of the game.
