Where it came from
Tri-Brigade Kerass debuted in the October 2020 set Phantom Rage, serving as a core member of the Tri-Brigade archetype. Designed by the creative team at Konami for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, this card introduced the unique playstyle of banishing Beast, Beast-Warrior, and Winged Beast monsters from the graveyard to special summon Link Monsters. The archetype was conceived as a thematic coalition of these three creature types, emphasizing a rugged, desert-dwelling aesthetic that contrasts with the more futuristic or magical themes common in the game.
The artwork, consistent with the gritty, tactical visual identity of the Tri-Brigade series, depicts Kerass as an agile scout. Upon its release, the card was immediately recognized by competitive players for its efficiency in facilitating Link plays, becoming a staple in high-level tournament decks. Its inclusion as a Super Rare in Phantom Rage reflected its importance to the intended strategy of the set, and it remains a defining piece for players who favor graveyard-focused resource management.
