Provenance

Where it came from

Weapon Change was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game as part of the Pharaoh's Servant expansion in 2002. As an equip spell card, it was designed to allow players to dynamically alter the attack and defense stats of their monsters by paying a recurring life point cost, reflecting the strategic emphasis on resource management and field control that defined the game's early mechanical evolution.

The card was later re-released in Dark Revelation Volume 2, a compilation set that reprinted many earlier cards to make them more accessible to the player base. The design, typical of the era's aesthetic, features artwork centered on an armory theme, intended to visually represent the shifting tactical advantages provided by the card's effect during a duel.
