Wightmare

Wightmare was released in the North American version of the Starstrike Blast booster set, which debuted in late 2010. As a monster supporting the 'Skull Servant' archetype, it was designed to function within the graveyard-reliant strategy of that long-running series, allowing players to recover banished Skull Servant cards to the graveyard or summon them to the field. This card reflects the design philosophy of the era, where developers sought to breathe new life into older, classic monster themes by introducing specialized support cards.

The card features the signature aesthetic of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game’s darker-themed monsters. Its illustration continues the visual lineage of the Wight family, depicting a skeletal figure that aligns with the whimsical yet macabre tone established by the original Skull Servant years prior. Within the competitive landscape, it was received as a niche utility card, valued primarily by enthusiasts of the Wight deck for its ability to recycle resources and facilitate the high-attack potential of the main deck’s boss monsters.
