Witch of the Black Forest

The Witch of the Black Forest card was originally released in the early years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, serving as a staple search engine for deck builders due to its ability to add a monster from the deck to the hand upon being sent to the graveyard. Its design, characterized by dark, gothic aesthetics typical of the game's early spellcaster archetypes, reflects the fantasy-heavy visual language established by Kazuki Takahashi. The card became notorious within the competitive scene, leading to multiple restrictions on tournament play lists over the years as players found ways to exploit its search mechanic.

The Battle Pack: Epic Dawn release, designated BP01-EN001, was introduced by Konami in 2012 as a specialized set designed for a draft-style play format. By reprinting iconic cards like the Witch of the Black Forest in a new rarity structure, the set aimed to balance the competitive environment while allowing players to access historically significant cards that had shaped the meta-game for over a decade. As a rare pull in this specific set, the version maintains the card's original mechanical utility while marking its place in the game's long history of card re-releases.
