Witch of the Black Forest

The Witch of the Black Forest was originally released in the Japanese OCG set 'Magic Ruler' in 2000, before appearing in the English-language 'Metal Raiders' set in 2002. As a low-level Effect Monster with a powerful graveyard-searching ability, it was designed to provide utility and consistency to decks by allowing players to add a monster with 1500 or less defense to their hand upon being sent to the graveyard. This mechanic made it a fundamental building block of competitive play during the early eras of the game.
