Yaranzo was released as part of a limited promotional series produced by Konami in collaboration with McDonald's in 2002. This campaign was designed to capitalize on the immense domestic popularity of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, which was experiencing a rapid surge in growth following the broadcast of the animated series in North America. By bundling these cards with Happy Meals, the promotion served as an accessible entry point for younger players to engage with the game mechanics outside of the standard hobby store environment.

The card features the standard design aesthetic of early Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters, characterized by Kazuki Takahashi’s distinct artistic influence on the franchise's visual identity.
