Yata-Garasu

Yata-Garasu was originally released as a secret rare in the 2003 expansion set Legacy of Darkness. The card design is based on the mythical three-legged crow from East Asian folklore, a creature often depicted as a messenger or a solar deity. Within the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game, its unique effect, which prevents the opponent from drawing cards after dealing damage, earned it a reputation for being one of the most oppressive and strategically powerful cards in the game's early competitive history, eventually leading to its long-term prohibition in official tournament play.

The Retro Pack 2 version, coded RP02-EN051, was released as a common card to provide players access to reprints of older, rare cards. This particular release allowed collectors and casual players to obtain the notorious monster in a more accessible format without the rarity of its initial printing. Its aesthetic remains consistent with the original Japanese art style, maintaining the dark, ethereal bird design that characterizes the Spirit monster archetype.
