Where it came from
1 Cho, also known as First Choice, emerged from the South Korean animation studio NAMU Animation as a web-based animated series. Produced during a period of growth for independent Korean digital animation, the project sought to explore thematic depth and character-driven storytelling within a short-form episodic format, prioritizing stylistic distinctiveness over traditional long-form broadcast structures.
The series is noted for its minimalist aesthetic and specific visual language, which reflect NAMU Animation's broader commitment to experimental digital production. By focusing on nuanced character development and atmospheric pacing, the creators intended to push the boundaries of what web-serialized animation could achieve in terms of narrative weight. It has been recognized within niche animation circles as a sophisticated example of the studio's technical precision and artistic vision.
