Where it came from
15-sai, Kyou kara Dousei Hajimemasu, known in English as 15: Starting Co-habitation Today, was produced by Production I.G and released as an original net animation in 2018. The project was adapted from a popular manga series by Mamita, which explored the burgeoning romantic life of a fifteen-year-old girl entering an unconventional living situation. The series was designed to target a demographic of young female readers and viewers interested in lighthearted, domestic-themed romance narratives.
The animation reflects the aesthetic standards typical of contemporary slice-of-life shoujo anime, focusing on character-driven interactions and a gentle, expressive visual style. Production I.G aimed to translate the manga's intimate tone into an episodic digital format, relying on a soft color palette and character designs that emphasize youthfulness and emotional warmth. Upon its release, the ONA was received as a modest, niche project that solidified the source material's appeal within the digital streaming landscape.
