Where it came from
21-ji no Onna: Newscaster Katsuragi Miki was released in 2001 by the Milky Animation Label, a studio specializing in adult-oriented animation during the late 1990s and early 2000s. This OVA, or original video animation, emerged from a period in the Japanese home video market where studios frequently produced short, character-focused dramas designed for direct-to-consumer VHS and DVD distribution.
The narrative follows a television newscaster navigating professional and personal tensions, a common archetype in the contemporary slice-of-life and character-driven works produced by Milky. While the production reflects the limited animation techniques standard for the studio's output at the time, it remains a documented entry in their catalog, representing the specific aesthetic and thematic trends prevalent within the adult OVA industry during the turn of the millennium.
