Where it came from
667-tsuu no Love Letter, also known as 667 Love Letters, is an original net animation released in 2011 to promote the Japanese film Kimi ni Todoke. Produced by Production I.G, the short was designed to bridge the narrative gap for fans of the source manga by Karuho Shiina, maintaining the series' signature gentle aesthetic and focus on the internal emotional landscapes of its lead characters, Sawako and Kazehaya.
The project was received as a heartfelt supplement to the existing franchise, with the design team focusing on the soft, watercolor-inspired palette and delicate character expressions that defined the Kimi ni Todoke visual identity. By exploring the quiet, earnest process of letter writing, the animation aimed to deepen the audience's connection to the themes of adolescent sincerity and communication that made the original work a staple of the shojo genre.
