82 Oshougatsuda yo! Doraemon, Kaibutsu-kun, Ninja Hattori-kun

Released in 1979, this special television program served as a New Year's celebration broadcast by Asatsu DK. It brought together three of the most iconic manga creations by the duo Fujiko Fujio—Doraemon, Kaibutsu-kun, and Ninja Hattori-kun—into a single crossover event. At the time, the popularity of these characters was surging, and such specials were designed to capitalize on holiday viewership by blending the supernatural and comedic elements of each series into a festive narrative.

The production reflects the golden age of Fujiko Fujio's influence on Japanese animation, utilizing the distinct, minimalist character designs that defined their aesthetic throughout the late seventies. While individual series like Doraemon had already begun their transition toward long-running staples of children's television, this special acted as a thematic bridge, showcasing the studio's ability to harmonize disparate genres like science fiction and folklore. It was received as a rare treat for fans, solidifying the cross-promotional power of the studio's catalog.
