Where it came from
A Dark Rabbit has Seven Lives, or Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi, originated as a light novel series before being adapted into a 2011 anime series by studio ZEXCS. The picture drama was produced as a special bonus inclusion for the home video releases, serving as a supplementary narrative experience designed to deepen the world-building for existing fans of the franchise.
The animation reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of director Takashi Yamamoto and the character designs adapted by Tomohiro Hirano. These special episodes were crafted to explore the lighter or more tangential interactions between the cast, maintaining the studio's established visual style while providing a brief departure from the main high-stakes plot of the source material.
