Fia always dreamed of becoming a knight. Born into a family of knights, she’s the least talented among them, but she still clutches to her hope and trains with everything she has. When the day comes for her to slay a small demon and prove her worth, she ends up face to face with a dragon instead! A deadly injury makes her life flash before her eyes…and she suddenly remembers her former life, when she was a powerful Saint in a bygone era who defeated the Demon King. That life ended in pain because of who she was, making her fear ever becoming a Saint again. Now that the magic from her previous life has been rekindled, she may become a more powerful knight than she ever dreamed–if only she can survive long enough!

Where it came from
A Tale of the Secret Saint originated as an adaptation of the popular light novel series written by Toufu Humikane, which gained significant traction for its subversion of classic isekai tropes through a protagonist who attempts to live a quiet life despite possessing overwhelming power. Produced by Felix Film, the ONA adaptation was commissioned to capitalize on the franchise's established fanbase, aiming to translate the series' blend of dry humor and high-fantasy action into a modern streaming format.
The production sought to maintain the visual clarity and aesthetic tone established by the light novel's illustrations. By choosing the ONA format, the studio emphasized a polished, episodic delivery designed for digital audiences, focusing on character-driven narrative pacing. While the series reflects the broader industry trend of adapting serialized web and print literature, its reception has been defined by how closely it adheres to the source material's nuanced character development.
