Where it came from
The ABCiee Working Diary is a 2021 animated television series produced by the Japanese studio Fanworks. The project was designed as a lighthearted, observational piece, rooted in the studio's specialty for creating short-form, minimalist animation that highlights the nuances of everyday professional life. By focusing on the gentle, often humorous interactions within a workplace environment, Fanworks aimed to provide a relatable experience for adult viewers navigating modern office culture.
The series is noted for its clean, straightforward aesthetic, which prioritizes character expression and situational comedy over complex visual spectacle. This design choice reflects the studio’s ongoing commitment to the 'yuru' or 'laid-back' genre, where the pacing is intentionally relaxed. Upon its release, the show was received as a charming addition to the studio's portfolio, appreciated primarily by niche audiences who favor character-driven, slice-of-life storytelling that avoids the high-stakes drama found in more traditional animated series.
