Where it came from
All Wishes Come True! is a 1957 Soviet animated short film produced by the Soyuzmultfilm studio. Directed by Boris Stepantsev and Pyotr Nosov, the film was created during a period when Soviet animation was focusing heavily on educational and moralistic storytelling for children. It adapts a folk tale that emphasizes the consequences of greed and the value of contentment, a common thematic staple in the mid-century Soviet cultural landscape.
The film is noted for its distinctive, vibrant character design that reflects the traditional illustrative style prevalent in Soviet children's literature of the 1950s. The visuals were crafted to be accessible and engaging for a young audience while maintaining a clear, didactic narrative structure. Upon its release, it was received as a standard piece of family entertainment, contributing to the substantial legacy of the Soyuzmultfilm library which remains a significant part of Eastern European animation history.
