Where it came from
Always a Catch! emerged in 2026 as a flagship project from Studio TROYCA, reflecting the studio's ongoing commitment to high-energy animation and intricate character dynamics. Developed during a period of shifting trends in the television landscape, the series was designed to blend traditional slice-of-life tropes with high-stakes, suspenseful plotting, aiming to subvert audience expectations through its titular thematic focus on unforeseen complications.
The visual direction, characteristic of TROYCA’s polished aesthetic, emphasizes fluid action sequences and expressive, detailed character designs. Upon its release, the series was noted by critics for its confident pacing and the technical proficiency of its animation team. It arrived at a time when the industry was increasingly experimenting with genre-bending narratives, and it found a receptive audience among viewers who appreciated the balance between lighthearted character banter and more serious, methodical mystery-solving.
