"Someday, this will end. I hate it. I wanna live forever," murmurs a girl over and over again. Does she repeat the same moments, or does she move forward? It looks and sounds either way. A wordplay animation.

Where it came from
Produced by the students and faculty at the Tokyo University of the Arts, known as Geidai, the short film and, end was released in 2011 as part of the university's burgeoning animation department. This project emerged from the school's graduate program, which emphasizes experimental techniques and a fusion of traditional fine art aesthetics with contemporary storytelling, aiming to foster a new generation of Japanese independent animators.
The film is characterized by its evocative, minimalist visual language, which eschews commercial tropes in favor of a deeply personal and often abstract narrative style. Geidai animators involved in the project focused on the fluidity of line and the interplay of negative space to create an atmospheric experience, a hallmark of the department’s commitment to animation as a medium of pure artistic expression rather than solely entertainment.
