Where it came from
Ancient Myth is an original net animation produced by the studio Soyep, emerging from a period when independent digital animation houses were increasingly exploring mythological themes through a stylized, atmospheric lens. Created to capture the ethereal nature of folklore, the project reflects a deliberate move toward minimalist storytelling and expressive visual sequences, emphasizing mood over traditional dialogue-heavy narratives.
The production design focuses on fluidity and symbolic color palettes, characteristic of Soyep’s broader creative output during this era. While the work remains a niche entry in the studio’s catalog, it is recognized by animation enthusiasts for its commitment to experimental aesthetics, garnering modest critical appreciation for its ability to convey complex emotional states within the constrained format of an online independent short.
