Ancien to Mahou no Tablet: Mou Hitotsu no Hirune Hime

Ancien to Mahou no Tablet: Mou Hitotsu no Hirune Hime, often referred to as 'Ancien and the Magic Tablet: Another Napping Princess,' was released in 2017 as a two-episode original net animation. It serves as a spin-off and narrative companion to the feature film Napping Princess, directed and written by Kenji Kamiyama. The project was created to expand upon the lore and character dynamics of the film, utilizing the same central creative team at Signal.MD to maintain visual and thematic consistency with the theatrical release.

The design of the ONA reflects the distinctive blend of grounded, contemporary Japanese setting and high-fantasy aesthetic established in the main feature. Kenji Kamiyama intended this supplemental work to provide viewers with additional insight into the protagonist Kokone's internal world and the tablet's magical capabilities. Upon its release, it was received primarily as a niche project, valued by fans of the film for its ability to bridge gaps in the narrative structure and offer a more intimate look at the characters' daily lives outside of the main plot.
